The meaning of Oeko-Tex Certified

When producing textiles bleaches and dyes, it can be harmful to the environment - and ourselves. We at A Nesting Place therefore only use textiles that are Oeko-Tex Certified for all of our products. This means that our products are absent of harmful chemicals and are naturally dyed. Let us take a deep dive on the meaning of a product being Oeko-Tex certified.

OEKO-TEX

Oeko-Tex is a global independent certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels. All components of the product must comply with the standards, including the sewing thread, lining, buttons, etc.

The fabric is tested for harmful substances which are prohibited or regulated by law and chemicals which are known to be harmful to health. This process surpasses all other existing criterion in safety and environmental protection.

The intended use of the textiles determines the stringency of the tests – the more prolonged and direct contact the textile will have with skin, the more demanding the requirements.
